Christmas market in the artisan town of Monschau

The ambience that serves as the setting for a Christmas market could hardly be more romantic than in the narrow streets of the half-timbered town of Monschau. After a two-year forced break due to Corona, the people of Monschau are happy to be able to hold their Christmas market on all Advent weekends from 25 November to 18 December. The market will be open in the aforementioned second room from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. The organisers have again included many Christmas highlights in the programme, including visits by St. Nicholas on Saturdays, performances by the legendary and Advent concerts by music clubs from the region.

The many stalls of travelling traders, artisans, carvers and hard-working countrywomen offer plenty of opportunities to procure imaginative Christmas gifts, including jewellery and accessories, fashion, leather goods, antiques and much more. But the culinary delights are not neglected here either: there is mulled wine, tea and punch, stollen, pastries and many hearty delicacies for every taste.

On the four weekends, gourmet tours and mulled wine walks are also offered. In addition, the Monschau-Touristik has many tour tips for romantic walks and hikes on lonely paths in the picturesque Eifel landscape. Information on the cots worth seeing in Konzen and Höfen, on church concerts and other programme items is also available there by telephone 024 72 – 80 48-0 or by e-mail to touristik@monschau.de.

The “besttime Hotel Monschau” at Bergstraße 1 is the perfect place to spend the night, offering a magnificent view of the rock formations of the Ehrensteinley. The historic town centre of the picturesque Eifel town can be reached from here in just five minutes on foot. Please book online or by phone: 024 72 / 97 01 23-0.
